Did you know that Dance & Company is closed over the holidays? It’s good that you’re going to give your body some much-needed rest for a few days, and you are probably really looking forward to it. But, you are also going to miss being in the studio for the time being. If you want to stay limber, burn some calories and avoid having sore muscles when you go back to class, it’s wise to do a few things over the holidays to stay mentally and physically in shape.
Here are my favorites:
Stretch every day.
Try to set aside just a few minutes each day to stretch your body. You may not feel like it, but you’ll be glad you set aside some time to stretch now when you get back to class. While your fellow dance friends may need some extra time to get their flexibility back, you’ll be ready to go!
Practice barre/center routines anywhere you see fit.
Whether it’s in your room, a friend’s house or even outside, it’s always good to be in a space to keep routines and exercises fresh in your body and mind before returning back to dance class.
Think about a New Years Resolution for something you would like to improve in your dance skills and technique for 2017.
It is always a great idea to make a New Year’s Resolution about improving something in your dancing. Just by thinking about dance movements and reminding yourself about specific things you need to work on, you’ll become a better dancer and have something to look forward to achieving!
Watch a dance performance.
Watching some great dance videos would be great over the holidays as well because it will keep your mind engaged on picking up things that you like about dance, and what you would like to work on as part of your resolution for the New Year. Most importantly, it will revive your passion for dance and will make you look forward to getting back to class!
Now we are ready to have a wonderful Holiday break filled with lots of love and dance! Happy Holidays everyone! I hope this was a helpful read. Please feel free to comment below with any questions. See you all in the New Year!
